Good deal – The “4-star” Kobo Libra H2O e-reader at €78.98 (-48%)

Eleven months after the release of the Forma e-reader, Kobo opens a new chapter with the Libra H2O: a concentrate of Kobo technologies including sealing and reading comfort as well as new reading functions.

This Kobo Libra H2O has all the features that the Kobo Forma or Kindle Oasis can offer, but at a lower price. It is all the same a little more expensive than the Kindle Paperwhite which is close to it and which also benefits from the striking force of Amazon for the bookstore. A simplified interface, accompanied by reading comfort – especially for the eyes – makes this new Kobo appeal to us. It remains to be seen what Kobo can offer even better next time…

Strong points

  • Design.
  • Reading functions.
  • 8 GB internal memory.
  • Sealing.
  • The “ComfortLight” night mode.

Weak points

  • The absence of a SIM card.
  • Case not supplied.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

Kobo has not missed its return to the e-reader niche for less than €100. The Nia incorporates a maximum of features that will appeal to beginners as well as old digital reader backpackers who do not wish to lock themselves into a proprietary format. And it is certainly this compatibility with open formats that makes this reader interesting compared to its direct competitor, the Kindle (2019) from Amazon, equipped with a similar screen and marketed at 79.99 €.
