Good deal – The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2021 e-reader at €94.99 (-24%)

Amazon is revisiting its Kindle Paperwhite for the umpteenth time, available in two finishes, including a Signature Edition. Our entry-level Paperwhite isn’t silly with its 6.8-inch backlit display, 8GB memory, and USB-C port.

Once again, Amazon has renewed its Kindle Paperwhite. It has a larger screen while retaining its 8 GB memory and its IPX8 certification for waterproofing. In the state, this Paperwhite does the job very well and does not require paying more to acquire the Paperwhite Signature Edition, a more muscular version of 32 GB and offering automatic lighting adjustment.

Strong points

  • Larger screen than the 2018 model.
  • Memory.
  • Autonomy.
  • Waterproof.

Weak points

  • Difficult to grip for small hands.
  • Plastic coating.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

Kobo has not missed its return to the e-reader niche for less than €100. The Nia incorporates a maximum of features that will appeal to beginners as well as old digital reader backpackers who do not wish to lock themselves into a proprietary format. And it is certainly this compatibility with open formats that makes this reader interesting compared to its direct competitor, the Kindle (2019) from Amazon, equipped with a similar screen and marketed at 79.99 €.
