The rear light allows you to be seen from quite a distance, even in broad daylight, and the radar allows you to “see” a car coming from behind, sometimes even before you hear it. On the other hand, you have to be careful not to pay too much attention to the screen and its alerts, at the risk of no longer being focused on what is happening in front of you.
