With its Studio 8 range, Jamo aims to be the ideal starting point for enjoying the joys of home cinema on a tight budget: a challenge met honorably and effectively by this pack of S809 HCS 5.1.2 speakers.
The Studio 8 range from Jamo particularly appealed to us. Admittedly, its finish does not exude great luxury, but this pack of 5.1.2 home-cinema speakers does not lose its main objective and thus offers us good quality listening, precise, dynamic, very immersive and relatively well balanced — we still recommend going through an amplifier equipped with an acoustic calibration in order to readjust the slightly excessive V signature and get the best out of it. Like the S807 HCS 5.1.2, the S809 HCS 5.1.2 is a perfect ally for setting up a first 3D multichannel configuration at a lower cost.
Strong points
- Clear, dynamic and perfectly untied mediums.
- Controlled, deep bass.
- Very natural and well-articulated human voices.
- Excellent spatialization.
- Center speaker a little bulky (nearly 20 cm high).
- Sober and efficient design, clever module attachment system, magnetic grids.
Weak points
- A little too aggressive V signature without acoustic calibration.
- Extreme treble a little too piercing.
- A slightly higher directivity would have improved the precision of pitch effects.
