The Video Doorbell 4 is the latest addition to Ring’s flagship lineup. It must not only find its place in the face of increased competition since the first Video Doorbell in 2015, but also against the Ring catalog (Wired, Pro and Elite).

The Video Doorbell 4 does not revolutionize the series, despite an interesting pre-roll color function, but more limited than that of its wired cousins ​​in order to preserve autonomy. Without particularly shining through its image quality, its motion detection or its audio performance, the Video Doorbell 4 struggles to really stand out in today’s fertile market: it is therefore especially interesting for those who already have Ring and does not wish to be burdened with an additional application to answer the door.

As an alternative

Despite its affordable price, the Video Doorbell Wired offers very satisfactory audio and video services, as well as motion detection which is all in all effective for a doorbell. Too bad that some of its functions require you to subscribe to the paid subscription Ring Protect in the absence of a microSD port. The Wired Video Doorbell naturally also skips the battery and we would have liked to see it accompanied by a chime like the Powergiant Wireless Video Doorbell, which therefore remains our benchmark in this segment.
