Good deal – The Roccat Horde Aimo Black keyboard at 29.99 € (-49%)

Hybrid keyboards are supposed to combine the best of mechanics and membrane. Several manufacturers have tried it, with varying degrees of success (mecha-membrane models at Razer, mem-chanical at Cooler Master, etc.). With its Membranical technology, used in its Horde and Horde Aimo keyboards, Roccat seems to want to join the dance.

Behind the “Membranical” promise hides in fact a membrane keyboard simply improved to better meet the expectations of gamers. If the typing is pleasant, it is nevertheless difficult to ignore the selling price which flirts with the prices of the mechanics. There remains, however, a complete and well-thought-out keyboard, which we therefore recommend rather to those who prefer the characteristic feel of the membrane.

Strong points

  • Handy multi-function dial.
  • Palm rest / Good comfort of use.
  • Dedicated macro and multimedia keys.
  • Flexible and relatively discreet strike.
  • Quite responsive for a membrane keyboard.

Weak points

  • Limited backlighting that doesn’t do the “Aimo” technology justice.
  • Membranical technology that is mechanical in name only.
  • No USB port or mini-jack sockets.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

With the All-In-One Media Keyboard, Microsoft has an excellent multimedia and ergonomic keyboard, with a beautiful finish and wide compatibility. We regret however that it does not work on battery. Cheaper than the K830, this All-In-One is suddenly a serious competitor to the already old K400 from Logitech.
