Good deal – The Sennheiser GSP 500 “5 star” gaming and microphone headset at € 99.00

The Sennheiser GSP 500 gaming and microphone headset goes under 100 € at Cdiscount. It is currently one of our best value for money.

The GSP 500 is part of the new range of high-end gaming headsets from Sennheiser, also composed of its almost twin brother the GSP 600. If the second is a closed headset, the first, which interests us here, is an open headset which therefore promises to trade the excellent sound insulation of his brother against a wider sound reproduction. Let’s see what it is.

How the price table works

Despite a few small flaws, the GSP 500 delivers an extremely solid overall performance. Comfortable (except for a pronounced pincer effect), equipped with an absolutely remarkable quality microphone, it also benefits from a very immersive sound reproduction, in particular thanks to a very ample and precise spatialization. The latter is expressed, however, above all in games and films; for listening to music, the GSP 500 is noticeably less comfortable. So even though it is one of the best helmets gaming openings available, this relative lack of versatility must be taken into account before any purchasing decision, especially at its very high introductory price.

Strong points

  • Its natural and immersive.
  • Serious reactive and controlled.
  • Good level of sound detail.
  • Excellent stereophony, ample and precise spatialization.
  • Microphone of remarkable quality.
  • Nice build quality.
  • Very comfortable…

Weak points

  • … despite excessive pressure around the ears.
  • Slight coloration in the treble, neutrality perfectible.
  • Slight imprecision in the mids, slight lack of sound hairline.
  • Proprietary connector between cables and headphones, volume wheel integrated directly into the headphones.

How the price table works

The first HyperX Cloud established itself as the benchmark for headsets gaming less than 100 €; the Cloud Alpha has all the weapons to take up its torch. Good on all points, versatile and benefiting from a sound reproduction of astonishing precision (despite an excessive softness), the latest HyperX is a safe bet that will delight the vast majority of its buyers.
