[ad_1]

Transcend’s MTE250S is a high-end SSD that promises read speeds of up to 7200MB/s and write speeds of 6200MB/s. Unlike its MTE250H cousin that we tested, it doesn’t have a heat sink.

  • Excellent read and write speeds.

  • Very fast real copy speeds.

  • 5 year warranty.

Weak points

  • Heat sink required to enjoy good flow rates.

  • Software a bit old.

The MTE250S 1TB is an M.2 SSD of choice for those who want fast and efficient storage. Its speeds are excellent for both reading and writing. Be careful, you will need to use a heat sink to take advantage of it, otherwise the heating will limit its performance. If necessary, you can turn to the MTE250H which, although identical for the rest, houses a heat sink.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product in the last month, with safety rules to exclude prices from stores whose VAT policy is unclear (so-called “grey” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).

As an alternative

The Samsung 990 Pro 1TB is an excellent internal SSD with ultra-fast read and write speeds. It competes head-on with Kingston’s KC3000, which was already very fast, while offering better controlled heating.
