Good deal – The WD Black SN770 1 TB SSD “4 stars” at 100.44 € (-14%)

WD Black SN770 SSDs are positioned as a mid-range PCIe 4 storage solution. With speeds of up to 5.15 GB / s, the 1 TB version is intended for office PCs as well as gaming PCs, or even the Sony PS5 console.

The WD Black SN770 1TB is a very good mid-range SSD. It offers both high and stable data rates. Its good thermal management ensures that it operates without a heat sink and without a drop in speed. The reliance on a PCIe 4 interface puts it a short head ahead of the best PCIe 3 SSDs. And while it can be used in a Sony PS5 console, it will still need to purchase a third-party heatsink.

Strong points

  • Fairly large SLC cache.
  • 5 year warranty.
  • 600 TB write endurance.
  • Thermal management.

Weak points

  • Need to purchase a 3rd party heatsink for use in a PS5.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

The Crucial P5 Plus 1 TB is not the fastest SSD of its generation, but it offers a convincing performance nonetheless. Although lower than the best competing models, the speeds remain high and this model can notably rely on a robust SLC cache system. A great product that will sit in any computer or PS5 without issue (provide a 3rd party heatsink in this case).
