The adventures of Shaun Murphy and the doctors at Saint Bonaventure Hospital in San José are not about to end. The American channel ABC has just renewed Good Doctor for a season 6, which will probably be launched across the Atlantic at the start of the school year.
While season 5, which will be marked by the return of Antonia Thomas in the role of Claire Browne, is still being broadcast in the United States, ABC therefore immediately renews its confidence in the medical series carried by Freddie Highmore, which has averaged 7.2 million viewers per episode on D+7 since last September and has thus established itself as the channel’s most-watched drama this season according to TVLine.
Hill Harper, Richard Schiff, Christina Chang, Fiona Gubelmann, Will Yun Lee, Paige Spara, Noah Galvin, and Bria Samone Henderson complete the main cast of the series and will logically be back in season 6.
In France, season 5 should arrive on TF1 by the end of the year, without further details for the moment.
Good Doctor is not the only ABC series to have been renewed yesterday since the channel has also confirmed the return of The Rookie for season 5, still led by Nathan Fillion.
The two series thus join Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19 and the comedy Abbott Elementary among the ranks of ABC fictions already guaranteed to return next season. While the fate of Big Sky, The Conners, Les Goldbergs, Home Economics, A Million Little Things, Queens and The Wonder Years remains up in the air.
