The price of graphics cards of the latest generation finally seems to be returning to “normal” on new… as well as second-hand.

In 2021, PC gamers complained about cryptocurrencies. While the latter burst the ceiling, they were considered responsible for the shortages and the inflation observed on the graphics cards.

Large drop in the second-hand market

Since the beginning of 2022, things have clearly calmed down on AMD / NVIDIA cards. More available, significantly less expensive, the GeForce RTX 3000 and the Radeon RX 6000 are also much more accessible on the second-hand market.

If the process has only just begun in France, it is already well underway in the United States, as explained Videocardz. Within 15 days – from 1er as of June 15 – observers have noted a decline in prices of between 0 and 9% depending on the models.

Already closer to the recommended public price (MSRP), the Radeon RXs were less affected by this reflux. On the other hand, note that on the GeForce RTX side, the drop is all the more interesting as it finally affects more accessible cards such as the RTX 3050 / RTX 3060 Ti / RTX 3070…

Finally, it is also very interesting to watch the second-hand market via the advertisements on eBay. There, we observe a much sharper drop in the prices charged: in most cases, it is a question of declines of between 10 and 20% over the first half of June.

This drop in eBay ads is a sign: while cryptocurrency prices have collapsed, structures are no longer profitable and dozens of graphics cards are being resold. Some may be very recent, but beware: a card used 24 hours a day for mining is no longer very healthy.
