Good news for the restyled Peugeot e-2008 and its increased range

A few weeks after its revelation, the restyled Peugeot e-2008 finally announces its price range. And good news, the electric SUV remains eligible for the ecological bonus, regardless of the version chosen.

Peugeot e-2008

After three years on the market, it was time for the current generation of the Peugeot 2008 to afford a small mid-career restyling, despite its undeniable success. Indeed, the compact SUV was still in 5th position among the best-selling models in France in May according to figures from the PFA.

A rising price

This is how the firm, which is also closely interested in synthetic fuels, lifted the veil at the beginning of last month on a new version of its star SUV. A restyled variant that benefits from a new exterior design and some technological improvements. But the biggest changes are under the hood, with a nice increase in power and an increase in autonomy.

Evolutions that remind us of those also made on the Peugeot e-208 and on the DS 3 e-tense that we were able to test a few months earlier. A host of new features for the Lion SUV, which was quick to reveal its prices, which can recently be viewed on the brand’s website. And for good reason, orders are already open for the thermal and electric version.

If the first starts from 26,400 euros with a 100 horsepower petrol engine, it’s not really the same song if you want to opt for the electric e-2008. In fact, it is necessary count no less than 40,150 euros for the entry-level equipped with the 136 horsepower engine in Active finish. At this price, you will be entitled to the 50 kWh battery, which offers a range of 340 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. For the record, the same version cost 37,100 euros in 2019.

If you want to be able to take advantage of the 406 kilometers put forward by the manufacturer, you will have to opt for the more efficient version. This is equipped with a reworked electric motor developing no less than 156 horsepower for an identical torque, which remains at 260 Nm. In this case, the SUV starts from 41,600 euros and you will be entitled to the 54 kWh battery that is also found on the e-208.

An interesting endowment

Suffice to say that the difference is very important between thermal and electric, as is often the case at present. However, this is slowly changing, with parity expected by the end of the decade. In the meantime, Peugeot plans to rely on less expensive LFP (lithium – iron – phosphate) batteries for its models. But then, what are we entitled to at this price?

Well if you opt for the entry-level Active finish of the Peugeot e-2008, you can already take advantage of an interesting endowment. This includes in particular LED lights, cruise control/speed limiter, lane keeping assistance, the 10-inch touch screen and extended recognition of road signs. Then you have to go to the next level to take advantage of the 10-inch digital handset.

Finally, the GT finish styling the range comes as standard with the reversing camera, induction smartphone charging, automatic high beams as well as hands-free access and the two-tone silhouette. You will have to pay 43,650 euros with the 136 horsepower engine and 45,100 euros for the variant of 156 horses. Prices that allow the electric SUV to remain eligible for the ecological bonus of 5,000 euros.

Note that the car is delivered as standard with a 7.4 kWh single-phase on-board charger. It will be necessary to pay 400 euros to have the right to the three-phase charger of 11 kW, whatever the finish. In direct current, the maximum charging power is always capped at 100 kW. Finally, the heat pump is also only offered as an option, at a price of 450 euros. The rival of the Volkswagen ID.3 and other BYD Dolphins will begin deliveries this summer.
