Good news, the Social Security ceiling increased in 2023

After 3 years of freezing, in 2020, 2021 and 2022, the social security ceiling (PASS) will be raised by 6.9% in 2023.

This increase is justified by taking into account the evolution of the average salary per head since 2019, details the official bulletin of Social Security in a press release of October 10.

the stop (1) formalizing the revaluation was published this Friday at Official newspaper. Here are the new limits that will come into effect from January 1, 2023:

  • annual value: 43,992 euros (compared to 41,136 euros in 2022);
  • monthly value: 3666 euros (3428 in 2022);
  • daily value: 202euros (189euros in 2022);
  • hourly value: 27euros (26euros in 2022).

Social benefits on the rise in 2023

This increase is good news for employees and beneficiaries. The upgraded PASS will lead in 2023 to a increase in certain social benefits, who use it as a basis for calculation : daily allowances for illness, accident at work or maternity, invalidity pensions, old-age insurance pensions from the general scheme.

Employers also use it to calculate social contributions on salary, retirement or unemployment, tax and social exemption thresholds for severance pay and the amount of work placement allowances for students. Finally, the PASS has a tax impactsince it is used to calculate the maximum income deduction applicable to retirement savings schemes, in particular the retirement savings plan (PER).
