good news, this much loved feature is coming

Over time, Sony continues to improve its PS5 through various updates. This time it’s about adding a particularly popular feature.

Like Microsoft and its Xbox Series consoles, loyalty matters to Sony and PS5 users. This is why in July 2022, we could learn of the existence of the PlayStation Stars program which is meant to be a celebration of the gamer for their accomplishments and dedication to the console. Once a member, you earn rewards by completing a variety of activities. We remember, for example, the “Monthly Check-In” campaign which simply asks you to play any game to receive a reward, while other campaigns ask you to win tournaments, win specific trophies or even to be the first player to “platinumize” a hit title in your local time zone.

The big highlight of this program is that all PlayStation Stars members have the opportunity to earn loyalty points which can be redeemed in a store which can include PSN wallet funds and a selection of games. Problem, to access it, you must necessarily use your smartphone via the PlayStation App application. But that was before ?

Sony wants to make everything more accessible on PS5

To avoid asking its PS5 players to own a smartphone, we think for example of the young teenager who is not equipped or quite simply the adult who does not want to take the lead, Sony wants to return the PlayStation Stars native to the PS5. What does it mean ? That the PlayStation will automatically integrate the loyalty program. If no official statement has been made on this subject, a screenshot of the privacy settings menu shows that the Japanese manufacturer is seriously working on it. Take a look at what you can discover in the console instead:

You can admire the mention of PlayStation Stars in the said options. @TwistedVoxel

The menu can be accessed by going to Settings > Users and accounts > Privacy > View and customize your privacy settings. Here you will find two new options under the heading “PlayStation Stars”. The first option will let you control which players can see your PlayStation Stars level. The second option, on the other hand, will allow you to control who can see your storefront. Your Showcase is where you can show your collectibles to other players. By the way, this setting is limited to players with adult PlayStation Network accounts in supported regions.

Allowing players to access and share their PlayStation Stars level and unlocked collectibles directly from their PlayStation 5 is a smart move by Sony and could help increase interest in the loyalty program. If we take the example of Steam, we know that this kind of system works very well. Players love being able to show off what they’re capable of to show off.

The news fair

Definitely, Sony is in a great phase of changes and improvements for its PS5. Yesterday we could learn that some PS Plus Premium subscribers registered in the Beta program received an invitation in their mailboxes from the manufacturer to test a new feature: PS5 game streaming in 4K. The PS5 therefore seems to be on a very good slope, fingers crossed that it continues.
