Xiaomi confirmed this week that a conference dedicated to its 13T series would take place on September 26 in Berlin. “Masterpiece in sight”modestly proclaims the visual which accompanies the announcement, while we observe the Leica logo: the German photography specialist, partner of Xiaomi since 2022, will therefore no longer be content to provide its expertise on ultra models high-end from the Chinese firm, but will offer it on more affordable terminals, traditionally represented by the T series.
Beyond the technical characteristics of smartphones, a strong announcement should be noted: Xiaomi no longer intends to lag behind in the field of software updates. Daniel Desjarlais, brand communications manager, thus ensures on that “Xiaomi 13T and 13T Pro will benefit from four years of Android OS updates as well as five years of security patches”. The number 3 in mobile therefore rises to the level of its main competitor, Samsung, which has shown the same promise since the beginning of 2022, then joined by Oppo and OnePlus. However, it remains to be seen whether Xiaomi’s promise will be extended to other terminals already available, including its 13 series including the Xiaomi 13 Pro and the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, both accompanied to date by three years of software upgrades, but also to its future devices.
Software longevity, hardware durability
Specialists in information leaks do not fail to draw up a composite portrait of the two smartphones, the name of which is confirmed by official communication from Xiaomi. The 13T and 13T Pro are both expected to be equipped with 6.67-inch Amoled screens with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and brightness that can peak up to 2600 nits. We must also expect that they will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ or 8200 Ultra chips depending on the model, by 5000 mAh batteries and that they will benefit from a triple photo module. If the rumors are correct, the two smartphones will not be content with increased software durability: they will also be entitled to IP68 certification, unprecedented on Xiaomi’s T series, and which will improve their hardware resistance.
