Goodbye Riverdale: how does the Netflix series end?


Netflix released the last episode of Riverdale on August 24. Want to know how it ends for Archie and his gang? We tell you everything!

We have known it for some time now, Riverdale stops after 7 seasons. The CW aired the final episode of the series yesterday, which was immediately posted on Netflix here.

After spending an entire season in the 1950s, this final episode takes place in small part in the present day. It opens with an 86-year-old Betty (Lili Reinhart), who discovers that her old friend Jughead has died. She asks her granddaughter to take her to Riverdale one last time to remember her adolescence. The appointment is made for the next day.

As she falls asleep peacefully, she is awakened by the angel Jughead who offers her to relive a day in the past: Betty chooses her last day in high school, which she had missed because she had mumps (! ). So back to the 50s, with her colorful looks and slicked back hair. The young girl takes the opportunity to say goodbye one last time to her friends and have them sign her Almanac. The opportunity for us to know what has become of the characters.

What happens to the characters after the end of Riverdale?

Archie (KJ Apa) decides to take the road west and joins a construction company. He will settle near the sea where he will meet a woman with whom he will have a family. When he dies, he will be buried in Riverdale alongside his father. His former best friend Jughead (Cole Sprouse) will open a publishing house specializing in comics, Madhouse, which will meet with little success. He will never marry.

Veronica (Camila Mendes) decides to go to Hollywood. After being hired by a production company, she takes the lead after two years. She will win two Oscars and discover talents. She will keep in touch with Betty even if the latter regrets not having visited her more often.

Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) becomes a great artist: her paintings will be exhibited in many museums, even in Europe. She and Tony remain a couple and subsequently adopt a baby boy. The two women will be engaged in women’s and racial causes, especially in the 1960s.

Kevin (Casey Cott) and Clay also move in together in Harlem where they live the bohemian life. The latter becomes a few years later a teacher at Columbia. As for Kevin, he will launch his own off-Broadway company.

Back to the 50s for a last day full of emotions

Fangs is hired at the end of high school to do a musical tour. But he died 1 month later following a car accident. The money he earned from his gold record will allow Moose and his daughter to support themselves.

Reggie (Charles Melton) will be hired by a basketball team before being drafted by the Lakers. After the death of his parents and in order to manage the family business, he will return to Riverdale to coach the high school team, which includes his two children.

Finally, Betty will also launch her women’s magazine, which is still sold today. She will never marry but will adopt a daughter. The young woman will not see her group of friends again after the end of high school.

We also learn during this day full of reminiscences that Betty, Archie, Jughead and Veronica formed a quad during their last year, a polyamorous union that we had not seen coming at all.

See you in the afterlife

Back to the present with an elderly Betty returning to Riverdale and bidding farewell to her town. She ends up peacefully dying in her granddaughter’s car. We find her in the beyond, in her version of the 50s, where she finds at Pop all her friends who died before her. His wish to relive the carefree high school years forever has been granted, as the angel Jughead confirms to us in front of the camera.

And so ends Riverdale, after 7 seasons of scaring us, crying and laughing.
