Goodbye Volcano High: release date and new end-of-the-world trailer for the musical game with dinos

playstation had already revealed Goodbye Volcano High at a State of Play in 2020. It will be a narrative and musical adventure game with musician and teen heroes in the appearance of dinosaurs, which plans to see the light of day on PS5, PS4 and PC. Its launch has been postponed several times due to the health crisis, but the developers of KO_OP finally see the end of it.

The last State of Play actually comes from set Goodbye Volcano High release date to June 15, 2023, via an interesting trailer. It reveals cutscenes, mini-games or even the third extract from the soundtrack, Meetingjust to get us in the mood.

Good morning ! I’m Marcela Huerta, Community Manager at KO_OP. You haven’t heard from us on PS Blog in a while, but we’re back stronger to reveal the Goodbye Volcano High release trailer for State of Play!

This is an important moment for us, and we are delighted to have access to this platform to tell you more. Oh, come to think of it, the release date is set for June 15, 2023. It’s right at the end of the school year, so fingers crossed that no exam will stop you from enjoying our game You can add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store today. It’s time to click that little heart to show us all your love!

You may have heard some new voices in this trailer. I was going to reveal the actors in question, but I bet some fans of the game have already recognized some of them. We have Ozioma Akagha, who lends her voice to Trish, Fang’s bug-loving best friend; Abe Bueno-Jallad, who voices Naser, Fang’s little brother who loves questionable jokes; Allegra Clark, who doubles as Naomi, the somewhat uptight but endearing class president; and finally Mark Whitten, who plays Reed, the quietly strong drummer. As we teased in our latest trailer, the iconic Lachlan Watson stars as Fang, the anxious, yet no less talented protagonist of GVH. We are really happy to have been able to work with these actors and are still struggling to realize that we will be able to offer a fully dubbed game. The world and the story of Goodbye Volcano High will be sublimated. And don’t forget: we haven’t revealed all the actors behind the character voices yet, so stay tuned!

Our latest trailer also features new footage of musical performances and mini-games! The performance footage celebrates Worm Drama, while showing off one of Goodbye Volcano High’s strengths: magical 2D animations (which people often mistake for 3D). The mini-games give you a taste of the types of interaction available with Fang: whether it’s avoiding too much screen time or creating your party poster (I love the infographic ), players are completely immersed in the daily life of Fang.

In addition to these announcements, we take this opportunity to unveil “Reunion”, the third extract from the Goodbye Volcano High soundtrack. I’ve always been obsessed with the vibe of this song. It’s rhythmic and joyful, but I enjoyed it even more when reading the lyrics! I love songs about recovering from a crisis. Because after all, in times of apocalypse, what else can we do but rely on each other? Melancholy is raging, but I’m ready!

We all face this together, never stay alone

(never stay alone)

We know it better not be alone

In this hell

Like the other tracks we released (“Don’t Talk” to announce our delay and “Constellations” for our latest PlayStation announcement), the track “Reunion” was created by our in-house audio director, Dabu, in collaboration with Brigitte Naggar. Dabu is known for his work on Dwarf Fortress, Boyfriend Dungeon, and Winding Worlds. Brigitte Naggar is a Canadian musician who has released two albums under the stage name Common Holly: Playing House and When I say to you Black Lightning.

As we near the end of this project, we marvel at the details our artists imagined brought to life by our amazing animation team. Then our programming department polishes it all up… It’s incredibly rewarding to see all of these elements come together in the final game.

We are hugely grateful for your support and hope you will continue to follow our development process by signing up for our newsletter or following us on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok! Thank you again and see you very soon on the Internet!

Goodbye Volcano High will be available on PS5 and PS4 in June 2023.
