Thanks to the Goodmed application, available since Monday, you can see if a drug is contraindicated for you.
Just enter your medical information: your possible allergies, the treatments you are taking or if you are pregnant, for example. Depending on your answers, after scanning or typing the name of the drug in the search bar, the GoodMed application, available for free on all download platforms since this Monday, tells you in a few seconds if the drug is safe for you. The dosage, the contraindications, or even the undesirable effects are just a click away. The main goal of GoodMed, “to avoid drug cocktails” warns Louis Létinier, doctor, pharmacologist and co-founder of the application.
“Adding a level to secure the taking of medication”
According to a study conducted by Opinion Way for Synapse Medicine on the relationship of French people to drugs, 62% of French people find the information in leaflets difficult to read because they are illegible or use complicated terms. “There are patients who have several health professionals, who go to the hospital, who see a pharmacist, a doctor, a second doctor”, details Louis Létinier before adding: “The patient is undoubtedly the best person to have a global vision of the treatment. So the idea is to add a level of security to help make it safer to take the drugs.”
The other objective is also to allow access to verified information, to avoid websites with sometimes dubious indications. The application is based on the instructions for more than 20,000 drugs sold in France.
