Google allows clearing the last 15 minutes of history on Android

After launching a new feature on iOS to clear your last 15 minutes of searches, it’s now rolling out to Android. It thus facilitates the deletion of sometimes embarrassing searches.

Have you ever, in a surge of curiosity, carried out a Google search that you would have preferred to keep discreet? Of course, it is possible to perform it in incognito mode or even to automatically erase your history, but a more convenient option is always welcome. To make your life easier, Google is now allowing Android users to clear searches made in the last 15 minutes, as journalist Mishaal Rahman points out on Twitter.

At Google I/O 2021, Google announced it’d roll out an option to delete the last 15 minutes of your search history. This rolled out on iOS in July 2021 but was said to come to Android later. Well, it appears to now be rolling out!

An easily accessible shortcut

In order to simplify access to this functionality, a shortcut is placed directly in the Google application. All you have to do is tap on your photo in the top right and then use the appropriate option in the menu, located under the search history access, as displayed above.

The feature isn’t new, as Google originally rolled it out in July on iOS. It is finally being deployed on Android for some users and should therefore soon be available globally.

A mobile-only feature

Despite its practical side, you will have to go through your mobile. Indeed, even if it allows you to delete your search history, whether it is carried out from a computer, a voice assistant or a smartphone, the option of deleting searches carried out during the last 15 minutes is not for the instant reserved only for iOS and Android versions of the Google application.

Finally, be aware that this will only delete your Google search history and not your browsing history. Thus, the sites visited and the cookies will remain in the memory of your browser and you will have to delete them manually, especially if you have accessed pages related to your search.

Finally, be aware that it is possible to very finely manage your Google Home activity history, from the dedicated application, but also that of the YouTube videos you watch.
