bard is evolving and risks becoming an indispensable tool in the near future. To ensure this, Google offers it integration with its other services, such as Maps, Lens, Sheets or Slides.
Google has focused most of its efforts on artificial intelligence in the introduction to its I/O conference. The Mountain View company has announced many new features in this area, with very promising improvements to come for Bard, its ChatGPT competitor.
PaLM 2 is available
First of all, Bard will be able to rely on PaLM 2, the new generation of Google’s advanced language model. PaLM 2 is advertised as trained in more than a hundred languages, with better capabilities in code generation, correction and optimization (in more than 20 programming languages), and blessed with in-depth knowledge in mathematics and medicine. PaLM 2 is divided into four different sub-models, all tailored to specific needs.
The other main axis developed by Google was the integration of Bard in its ecosystem, leaving to consider almost unlimited possibilities with the other services of the American giant. Watchword : “connecting Google’s tools to each other”.
Coupled with Lens, Bard will be able to analyze and understand images, which can therefore be used within a prompt. He will also use Google Search to embellish his answers with images and descriptions found on the web.
Still no French
The conversational agent will also be enriched by Google Maps: it will be able to display maps, even routes and points of interest according to the needs of the user. If you ask Bard to generate a table of data or information, you can then export it to Sheets. Other types of content can be transferred instantly to Docs or Slides.
Bard will also, like ChatGPT with its plugins, better integrate with third-party platforms, such as Adobe, Spotify or Kayak.
Limited to the United States so far, Bard no longer requires registration on the waiting list to access it and is open to 180 countries. Unfortunately, France is not one of them, and the AI is limited to three languages: English, which he already mastered, as well as Japanese and Korean now. A larger rollout and support for around 40 languages are planned for later.
