Google is inflating its Chromebooks with new features based on artificial intelligence. Chromebook Plus can notably use Gemini, but also other features aimed at making our lives easier.
A few days ago, ASUS lifted the veil on a new version of its Vivobook S15 laptop PC, powered by Copilot+. On the Google side, we are obviously on the lookout when it comes to AI, and it is therefore only natural that the American giant in turn integrates new features into its Chromebooks. Very specific Chromebooks, with a new “Plus” label.
Lots of AI (also) in Chromebooks
It was at the end of last year, Google confirming the arrival of a new range of Chromebooks, with an optimized technical sheet, so as to be able to accommodate new features: the Chromebook Plus.
The goal is to change the image cheap » Chromebooks, and now aim for the top of the basket, with more powerful and premium-oriented computers. Among the partners of the American giant, we find Acer, Lenovo, HP and even… Asus.
Writing help, Gemini, Magic Editor….
With their optimized components, these same Chromebook Plus are able to accommodate new features, including tools based on the now essential artificial intelligence. The new features highlighted by Google concern in particular “ writing help », which will be integrated directly into the system itself, via a future update.
As its name suggests, this functionality is a writing aid, aimed at assisting (and not replacing) the author of an email, a blog article, a publication on a social network, etc.
Added to this is the Magic Editor tool (already present on the Google Pixel 8 smartphones that we tested in our columns), which will allow you to retouch your photos with the help of AI. In addition, there is a screenshot in GIF format, generative wallpapers…
Finally, the Gemini application will also offer various AI-powered features, for writing, summarizing, scheduling appointments, etc.
Note that owners of a Chromebook Plus can also benefit from a free year of subscription to Google One AI Premium.
