Google Chrome improves the presentation of two very important elements

Google has rolled out minor adjustments to its browser for search and downloads. Welcome new features, but some of which arrive first on Android.

Slightly change the layout of search and downloads to display the information you were looking for faster, more clearly, and in a more orderly fashion. That’s what Google is doing with the rollout of a new version of Google Chrome, which is coming to Android first. We indeed learn from The Verge, that the iOS version will be deployed “later this year“, without further details at this stage.

The first visible change is anyway the appearance of the most popular searches (“trending”) directly by clicking on the address bar of the Chrome mobile application. On the “eligible sitesso will search suggestions, Google says. In detail, Google Chrome for Android (and soon iOS) will be able to suggest local restaurants or tourist attractions when you search for a particular destination. In some cases, a contextual tab may also appear when you isolate, in selection, the name of a city in a text.

Search improves on mobile Google Chrome… and downloads too, but on desktop

For the rest, users of the Android application can now take advantage of the “Touch to Searchto find results related to featured topics. We also learn that Chrome’s address bar will display a total of 10 search suggestions for iOS users… instead of the six so far. However, this novelty only concerns the iOS version of Google Chrome, since Android users were already benefiting from it.

On the desktop version of Google Chrome for macOS, Windows, and ChromeOS, Google is finally improving the presentation of downloads. The idea? Make it easier to interact with files being downloaded, or recently downloaded.

As you can see above. The quick access command for downloads is now located just to the right of the address bar. It also benefits from a new animated ring representing the progress of current downloads. The preview panel will open briefly when downloads are complete, before closing automatically so as not to interfere with navigation, explains The Verge.

This panel will also display all the files that have been downloaded here in the last 24 hours, with the added bonus of the (very classic) commands for quick access to the download directory, pause, resume, cancel or RELAUNCH.
