Soon it will be possible to match the theme of Google Chrome to the Windows accent color. Good news for users of the browser, which is subject to numerous changes this year.
To change the appearance of Chrome, users have access to a wide range of theme options. It is also possible to go to the Chrome Web Store to benefit from a wider range of choices. Obviously, Google wants to offer even more customization possibilities.
Chrome will be able to mimic Windows accent color
Leo Varela, a specialist in Windows, Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome who has already discovered many features, indicated on Reddit that a new button was available in the “Customize Chrome” panel. Called “Follow device colors”, it allows you to coordinate the Google Chrome theme color with the Windows accent color. This is the one that is used to highlight important elements in the interface.
For now, the option only appears on Chrome Canary, the version of the browser reserved for developers. This means that it could land in its stable variant soon, but not necessarily as is, as Google can still make changes. Obviously, the feature will only be available on PC.
A year of change for Chrome
This feature should be welcome, Microsoft having distinguished itself by refreshing the general appearance of its applications and platforms, taking inspiration from the Fluent Design of Windows 11. Above all, it demonstrates the profound overhaul brought to Google’s browser in 2023 , both in terms of design with a completely revisited interface and user experience. For example, Chrome users on PC can benefit from the Windows Mica effect. Another major change: the download interface, long criticized, has had a facelift.
In terms of functionality, the Mountain View firm now offers picture-in-picture mode for any type of web content. With Quick Delete it is also possible to quickly get rid of an embarrassing search.
