Tech’s crazy comeback continues with a bang. After the presentation of the new iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro, it’s up to Google to come out of the woods with smartphones and a connected watch. The Mountain View company presented the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro as well as the long-awaited Pixel Watch. We also expect news of Android 13, but also of the Pixel tablet scheduled for next year.

The summary of announcements: Pixel 7, Pixel Watch and Pixel Tablet

15:30
More than half an hour to wait

Make yourself comfortable, it starts in 30 minutes!

15:50
10 more minutes

Ten minutes before the conference, we can already see images of the products with at the top of the line, of course, the Pixel 7 Pro.

4:00 p.m.

Let’s go !

And we left! The clock has disappeared on Google Live, it won’t be long.

16:01
The whole ecosystem presented

And it starts strong with a very quick presentation of the entire ecosystem, Pixel 7, Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel tablet in a short scripted sequence.

16:03
Welcome to made by Google

The conference is on! Google insists directly on its strong point: making the experience personal. We also mention the automatic blocking of SPAM in Google Messages, or Google Translation, services that are increasingly essential, including outside the Google ecosystem.

16:05
It teases

We have seen bits of Pixel Watch, Pixel 7. But for the moment, the conference is mainly focused on a reminder of previous episodes: Pixel 6 and 6a, successes from Google’s point of view.

16:06
The program is here

The full conference program here in this image.

16:07
Pixel language

The talk kicks off with an explanation of the Pixel design, which gives the impression that all of Google’s recent devices belong to the same brand.

The focus is clearly on fluidity, comfort when taking the device out of the bag, on the wrist, finishes, a very textured appearance.

16:11

PixelWatch

That’s it, the Pixel Watch shows itself from many angles. We’ve seen a lot of leaks around the watch so far, but it tended to look pretty much the same watch all the time, with the same silicone strap. We discover that other bracelets and finishes will be in the game.

16:14
Tablet finishes

We could see a little better the finishes of the Pixel tablet and its interface.

16:16
The most secure smartphones

Google claims that thanks to its new Titan M2 chip, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are the most protected phones on the market. The firm also announces five years of security updates.

The firm also announces a new standard, Protected Computing. Three points make it possible to define it: Minimize the data footprint, no longer link the data to you and promote end-to-end encryption.

Google One will also integrate a VPN at no additional cost.

16:20

Pixel 7 and 7 Pro: that’s it, they’re there

After months of leaks, the Pixels are finally here. Three colors for the Pixel 7, a 6.3-inch screen, a 25% higher maximum brightness, up to 72 hours of autonomy in energy saving mode… the novelties are there.

The Pixel 7 Pro for its part, comes in three other colors with a slightly more advanced screen.

16:25
Tensor G2

We learn a little more about the Tensor G2. It will be 60% faster and 20% more energy efficient. AI is still at the heart of the experience.

Google argues, for example, that this is the best phone for photos, but also for calls or even for security. Unfortunately, after such a strong claim, we would like some details to judge for ourselves.

16:28
Googles Messages

Something quite impressive is going to be introduced in the Pixel 7. It is a live text transcription of voicemails.

4:30 p.m.
Photo inclusiveness

Google communicates again on its efforts around Real Tone, a set of technology that allows all skin colors to be represented more fairly.

16:33

A guided selfie mode

The Pixel 7 will be able to accompany you in your selfies by giving you small voice instructions to frame properly. This is clearly an inclusive option for the visually impaired. It’s called Guided Frame and it’s coming to the Pixel 7.

16:35
Sharper shots

Pixel 7’s Tensor G2 incorporates a new denoiser which allows you to transform blurry shots into a sharper result.

The result is truly stunning! According to the Google demo, you can really start from a very vague result and arrive at a net result. The craziest thing is that it even works on somewhat old shots.

16:39
Cinematic mode à la Google

Google introduces Cinematic Blur, its version of the cinematic mode of the iPhone 14. The idea is simple: imitate the depth of field of a camera when shooting videos with a Pixel 7.

Added to this is the introduction of 10-bit HDR video. Software stabilization has also been improved. All Pixels can run at 4K 60 FPS.

16:41

It’s zoom time!

The Pixel 7 zoom promises to be incredible! Usually, digital zoom is something we wouldn’t recommend using, but this year the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will incorporate machine learning boosted zoom.

For example, the photo taken below was taken from a “safe distance” we are assured.

The name of the feature is the Super Res Zoom. Remember this name, you will hear about it in all the reviews.

On the Pixel 7 Pro, we obtain a fusion of the telephoto lens and the main sensor in order to have a clean result in X2. You can also look for X5 or X10 and the result looks frankly impressive.

16:46
The ultra-wide angle of the Pixel 7 Pro

The Pixel 7 Pro has a larger viewing angle than the Pixel 7. This allows it to take advantage of a macro mode in particular.

16:48

Summary of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro

The prices have been announced:

$599 for the Pixel 7

$899 for the Pixel 7 Pro

16:50

The Pixel Watch is here

It’s the turn of the Pixel Watch. For now, it looks like a connected watch with a nice interface. It offers notification tracking, changing your thermostat, tracking Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Assistant, etc.

This is the first WearOS watch with FitBit. Heart activity tracking promises to work to the second. For the occasion, FitBit introduces a new sensor.

16:54
FitBit Premium

Quite a few small features have been introduced, but overall they seem tied to Fitbit Premium. You will have for example regular goals, a sleep score, an automatic alert for accidents (from 2023).

The watch costs $349 and $399 for Wi-Fi and LTE respectively. For that price, you’ll get 6 months of FitBit Premium and three months of YouTube Premium.

16:58

The tablet is revealed

The Google Pixel Tablet is entitled to its segment in turn. First news: it will benefit from the Tensor G2 chip. Good news that suggests a powerful and responsive tablet.

To help the tablet find its place in the home, it is apparently designed as a replacement for a Nest, thanks to a charging dock. We find all the features we appreciate on a classic Google Home: Google Photos to take advantage of family photos, Google Assistant, etc.

No date, however: we know that it will be released in 2023. That’s all.

17:05

Back camera with the Pixel Watch

The Pixel Watch can be used as a trigger. This is nothing new. The little extra thing is that by pairing it with a Pixel 7, you can get live feedback of the scene you are trying to capture. Practice.

17:07
What’s New in Google Home

As announced before the conference, Google Home will benefit from a major update to simplify its readability. It looks much nicer to use. We look forward !

17:09
The ecosystem, the strong point of the conference

More than ever, we clearly have the impression that this is it, Google presents its complete Pixel ecosystem to us. The tablet and the watch reinforce this impression, without forgetting of course the new headphones.

17:12
And it’s over! Summary of the conference

Months of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro leaks

The Mountain View company has revealed its new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. At least what was left to reveal, as the leaks were important on these products. Data sheets, new features like the Zoom Super Res, the design was even presented by Google, in a video in the form of an attempt to calm the game of leaks, in vain.

Pixel Watch: the Arlesian finally comes out of the woods

The same goes for the Pixel Watch, whose full technical sheet was available before the conference. Remember that this is a brand new range, which has been rumored since the launch of Wear OS in 2014.

The watch connected by Google should largely draw on the acquisition of Fitbit operated by Google a few years ago. The leaks also show a bold design, with a rotating crown and a very domed appearance. Google will have to succeed in its copy if it wants to convince other manufacturers to make the switch to Wear OS.

Pixel Tablet: the return of Google

Another point expected during the conference, we hoped to hear news of another new Pixel range, the first Pixel tablet. As a reminder, Google had already teased its outlines during its Google I/O 2022. The product is expected around 2023. Unfortunately, we have not had a new release date.
