The release of Android 14 is accompanied by an iterative overhaul of Google’s services and applications. The Mountain View firm has made a significant change to the ergonomics of Google Drive for Android.
In just over ten years of existence, Google Drive has become one of the storage solutions and preferred productivity Internet users. The company does not communicate the number of active users of its cloud file sharing service, but Wikipedia puts a figure hovering around 2.5 billion. The now famous leaker AssembleDebug posted screenshots of the new design of an essential Google Drive tab on X/Twitter.

The two images shared on the social network reveal a before/after of the folders page contained in your Drive, accessible by tapping on the “Files” tab. At first glance, it must be admitted, the difference is not immediately obvious. Looking more closely, we still see that the Mountain View designers applied a color in the background of each folder. A cosmetic change which will not change anything in the ergonomics of the program. THE “+” button on the other hand, which allows you to create a Docs or Slides in one click, gains in width, and a Camera icon overlooking it appears. The latter will give even faster access to your smartphone’s document scanner.

This light coat of gray paint certainly doesn’t add anything in terms of functionalitybut we cannot accuse the company of inaction when it comes to Google Drive, nor any other GMS application.
