Scan documents in no time, the Google Drive iOS application is now capable of doing so. Thanks to the addition of a new button, digitizing invoices, contracts and even receipts becomes even easier and faster.
Google Drive scanning option finally available on iPhone
Regularly, the functionalities of the same mobile application differ between the iOS and Android versions. Google Drive is also affected by this phenomenon. After more than ten years of good and loyal service, document scanning has finally arrived on iPhone and iPad.
Thus, version 4.2023.46227 of the application brings a new button in the shape of a camera above the traditional “+” icon. By pressing it, the camera opens and automatically performs the scan, taking into account only the document. A capture button is also available at the bottom of the screen to perform the scanning manually. There are also filters (color, gray level, black and white, etc.). Then simply click on the “Save” button to save the scanned document(s) in a PDF format.
Please note, there is still a small new feature for the Google Drive scanning functionality. Indeed, 9to5Google reports that after recording, “Google will use machine learning to suggest a relevant title”.
Limited to the United States for the moment, this improvement allows you to identify the type of document scanned and add useful details about it. For example, 9to5Google shows that Google Drive identified in the title that the scanned document was a receipt from a store located in Watsonville, and printed on July 16, 2023.
