Pixel Camera 9.2 improves the already excellent camera by Pixel 8 And Pixel 8 Pro. The latter even benefits from exclusive advanced functions.

The Pixel Camera application, formerly known as Google Camera, has been updated to version 9.2. This brings some additional features, exclusive to Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones.

Ultra HDR on old Pixels

One of the main new features is the improvement of timelapse mode with Night Vision activated. Now, a 5-minute 1080p recording allows you to assemble a 10-second time-lapse video. In 4K quality, it takes 20 minutes of recording to obtain this same duration of 10 seconds.

The function of activating the timer by hand gesture, added to the app a few months ago, becomes more customizable. The user can now choose whether this option should always be enabled, or only when a timer is already running.

Ultra HDR and color enhancement options are now available. On Pixels from previous generations, it becomes possible to activate them, while on the Pixel 8 series, you can deactivate them, although they are functional by default.

The Pixel 8 Pro is spoiled

The Pixel 8 Pro should also receive two features during the month of December, which were planned at launch, but which ultimately could not be integrated in time. With Zoom Enhance, the smartphone will enjoy more detailed photos and videos when captured with powerful zoom. Boosted with AI, this function is made possible by the machine learning capabilities of the Tensor G3 chip.

The second expected new feature is Video Boost. When you shoot a video, two files are created. The first is the standard file, which you can read and share immediately. The second is sent to the cloud for post-processing, which can take up to several hours. When the HDR+ boosted video is ready, the user is notified. He then obtains a video with more vivid colors, with better brightness and with defects (such as light blur effects) corrected.
