The search engine reaffirmed during its conference Google I/O 2022 its objectives in terms of ecology and spoke about its efforts in this area.

Environmental protection has never been as important a subject as it is today and Google wants to be an exemplary player in this area.

A hub dedicated to AI powered almost entirely by renewable energies

The search engine has been able to announce its carbon neutrality objectives on numerous occasions. On the occasion of Google I/O 2022, the CEO of the group, Sundar Pichai, reaffirmed that his group will achieve carbon neutrality in 2030. To do this, Google is counting on renewable energies, which already supply some of its centers of data, very energy-intensive.

The company today announced the opening of a new hub dedicated to artificial intelligence in one of its data centers. This hub, the first of its kind, will also be 90% powered by renewable energies.

Google will also have to encourage (or impose) the same neutrality on its subcontractors to achieve this ambitious objective.
