Google has introduced a new feature for Android, which is still only being worked on, but which will make a huge difference in everyday life. Users of cheap smartphones and tablets with little memory will particularly benefit from this. But the developers benefit too.
Android: Google archives unused apps
Who does not know that? You use your smartphone or tablet for a longer period of time, install apps and games that you no longer use after a while, but don’t feel like cleaning out your Android device regularly. This is exactly where the new archive function from Google comes into play. The company is working on a feature that will 60 percent storage space can be saved (Source: Google).
To avoid unnecessary uninstalls, Google came up with this new idea. Unused apps are converted to archived APKs and save 60 percent of disk space in this state. They are still available on the smartphone or tablet and can be easily retrieved if necessary.
Google has not yet explained exactly what the final use on an Android smartphone or tablet will look like. It would be conceivable to regularly check apps and games that you have not used for a long time. The Operating system could then make the suggestionthat the unused apps are archived. You would still have them available at any time, but they would be much smaller and would not fully utilize the storage space.
