Perhaps you didn’t know it, but since 2018, it has been possible to contact a company via messaging set up by Google Maps (but also Google Search). However, this tool seems to be used so little that the Mountain View firm has decided to put an end to it as of July 15.

Endgame for Google Business Profile Email

From mid-July, it will no longer be possible to launch new conversations, but old ones will remain accessible. The permanent closure of business messaging integrated into Google Business Profile will take place on July 31. There will be no alternative, the best way will be to use the telephone number displayed, the site or the various social networks of an establishment. For example, a Facebook or Instagram page.

The Mountain View firm recommends that establishments update their Google Maps page to display the best means of communication. If you have already communicated with a company via dedicated messaging, a message will be displayed to inform you of the upcoming closure of the company. People who wish to keep conversation and call history will be able to do so from Google Business Profile since, ultimately, Google will permanently delete all data.

Google justifies its decision

To justify its decision, Google declares that this deletion is being done “as part of the continuous improvement of our tools”while admitting that it is a question of “difficult decisions that can impact the businesses and partners we work with”.
