GOOGLE MAPS

Until recently, Google Maps offered information on the spread of Corona. This layer has now been quietly removed from the app.

Until recently, you could use a layer on Google Maps that shows you the number of corona infections in regions you specify. That’s over now. Because Google has removed the function from both the app and the web view.

The reason given on the official support page is the lack of interest in the function. However, that doesn’t mean Google Maps doesn’t offer helpful information on Covid-19.

The offer has been streamlined to the essentials. You will continue to receive information on test and vaccination centers in Maps and on variants and prevention in the Google search, the internet giant promises.
