Europe will introduce the “right to repair” for bicycles
The European Parliament has voted for a new measure to extend and facilitate the repair of bicycles, including electric bicycles. This initiative requires manufacturers to repair their products even out of warranty, as long as the cost does not exceed the value of the bike. The aim is to reduce waste and CO2 emissions linked to the disposal of bicycles.
In France, despite similar efforts, the repair bonus remains little used for electric bikes. The new European measure aims to make repair more accessible and less expensive.
Tesla finally offers adaptive matrix lights
Tesla recently enabled adaptive matrix high beams on its electric cars via a software update. This feature, previously limited to light shows, now allows for better nighttime visibility while reducing glare for other road users. The lights adjust by dimming the lighting at each pixel, allowing the high beams to be kept on for longer.
Initially available on the new facelifted Tesla Model 3, this update could extend to other models.
Google Maps now works in tunnels
Google Maps has introduced a new feature enabling geolocation in tunnels for Android users. This advancement uses Bluetooth beacons installed in the tunnels of several major global cities. Previously, GPS lost its effectiveness in these areas due to obstructed satellite signals.
The Bluetooth beacons act as digital markers, allowing Google Maps to determine the user’s position and orientation in the tunnel. This privacy-friendly option must be manually enabled in Google Maps settings.
