It is no longer necessary to carry out a specific search on Google Maps to identify available charging stations in the surrounding area. The media SmartDroid indicates that the developer has added a shortcut accessible in one click from its mobile app. Called Charging Stations, it takes place under the search bar, where we traditionally find quick search buttons such as Restaurants, Attractions, Cafés or even Hotels.

This new shortcut only appears if the user has indicated that they are driving an electric or hybrid car in the Maps application. As a reminder, this option is located in Settings > Navigation > Engine type.

Thus, the Charging stations button replaces the usual Service stations displayed to drivers of thermal cars.

Earlier last week, SmartDroid also revealed another change inherent to the Google Maps mobile application: the highlighting of a complete street following a search. Previously, the navigation service was more vague by simply placing a red pin on the street you were looking for.
