  • A Reddit user made a creepy find on Google Maps.
  • Those who are afraid of spiders should therefore better avoid Seattle.
  • However, there is an explanation for the find.

If you enter the coordinates 47.62167029424874, -122.35094891432178 on Google Maps, you will sometimes get a shock. Because in the middle of the roof of a shopping center in Seattle, two gigantic spiders move, as the Reddit user “sugar36spice” discovered.

But don’t worry! These are not mutant monster spiders, but a graphic that artist Marlin Peterson created back in 2012. The spiders appear particularly realistic because Peterson even calculated the shadow cast and painted it accordingly, reports the radio station Knkx on its website. The following time lapse video shows the creation of the artwork.

Works of art that can only be discovered from the air are more common than you might think on Google Maps. For example, the alleged sighting of a US military drone over Brooklyn and the traces of a giant sandworm in the Sahara caused a stir on Reddit.

This giant snake off the French coast also caused fear and terror on the net, but it is also a work of art. Not a work of art, this giant dragonfly spotted on Google Maps off the Seattle coast.

These giant jellyfish are not the work of an artist either. However, there is a perfectly natural explanation for both sightings. The situation is similar with supposed UFOs on Google Maps.
