Google’s reputation for leaks is well established, as its new devices rarely remain secret before launch. The American giant had already inadvertently published an image of the Pixel 8 before its official release, and it has now just done a new ball by putting all the colors of smartphones online in its simulator.

The page, which has since been removed, gave us an overview of the three new colors of the Pixel 8 Pro: Licorice, Porcelain and Sky. It is essentially a somewhat light black, a greyish white as well as a light blue. Even better, the smartphone was presented from all angles, which finally allows us to confirm a few previous reports.

The SIM drawer does not disappear, and a new sensor is arriving

The Google simulation confirms that the smartphone will keep its SIM drawer on the edge. It will not yet signal the disappearance of physical SIM cards in favor of eSIM, as some reports claimed.

Even better, Google confirms the presence of a temperature sensor on the back, located next to the cameras. As its name suggests, the latter could allow your smartphone to replace your thermometer, which could be useful to check if you have a fever. This is just speculation for now, so we will have to wait for Google to specify the uses of this brand new sensor. We also don’t know if it will be able to measure the temperature from a certain distance, or if we have to stick the smartphone to the surface in question, as we could already do with a connected watch with this feature.

In addition to the design of the smartphone, Google has also spilled the beans about the new features expected on its Pixel 8, and as usual, a majority of them relate to the photo part. See you on October 4 to find out all about them, since it is on this date that Google will present its two new devices.
