Following a bug in the app, Google Pay mistakenly paid out money to users. One of the people concerned claims to have been entitled to more than 1000 dollars.
It’s the kind of surprise that makes you happy. Users received money from Google Pay (Google Wallet). This unusual information was brought to light by the independent journalist Mishaal Rahman who dedicated a thread to it on Twitter. He himself enjoyed a reward of 46 dollars in total through the mobile payment platform.
He explains that it is for having made ” Google Pay payout experience dogfooding “. As pointed outAndroid AuthorityThe term refers to a process where a company asks employees to beta test software before thanking them with a small financial bonus. To put it another way, this money should normally have gone only to Google employees.
Uhhh, Google Pay seems to just be randomly giving users free money right now.

Up to $1000
Mishaal Rahman isn’t the only one who mistakenly received money on Google Pay. He indeed shares a Reddit conversation where several Internet users explain that they were also entitled to sums of money with this same justification of “dog food“.
The amounts received are unequal. They vary depending on the person from a dozen to a good hundred US dollars. A person on Reddit bluntly claims to have been credited with 1072 dollars!
Google apologizes
In the aftermath, Google officially confirmed that this was an error. Mishaal Rashman and others affected have received an apology message.
You received this email because a money credit was unintentionally deposited into your Google Pay account. The issue has been resolved and, where possible, the credit has been reversed. If we were able to reverse the credit, it has already been reflected in your account activity. If we couldn’t cancel the credit, you can keep the money. No further action is necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Good news for those with whom Google Pay was unable to cancel the credit. These people can take advantage of this hard-earned money and the Californian giant will not bother them.
