Google Photos will soon help you see more clearly, to less clutter you with Memes and other GIFs

Google Photos could soon give you a cleaner viewing experience by automatically hiding Memes, GIFs, and screenshots from your main feed. This new feature, called “Hide Clutter,” builds on Google’s efforts to intelligently organize your library and highlight your fondest memories.

At the end of last week, the Mountain View company announced a function to allow you to save storage space in Google Photos on Android. Obviously determined to continue its momentum, the American giant is now working on a brand new feature aimed at decluttering the main flow of your photo library in Google Photos. An idea that should delight many users, and especially those who accumulate memes and other invasive GIFs, to the point of no longer knowing where to turn.

Google Photos will soon offer automated sorting for a smoother experience

Over the years, your Google Photos library has probably grown with memes, GIFs, and screenshots, making it somewhat cluttered. In order to improve the user experience, the Mountain View giant is reportedly considering a way to allow you to hide this unwanted multimedia content from your library, as reported to us by Android Police.

Based on the source code of the application on Android (v6.79.0.624777117), some clever people have recently discovered the presence of a feature called “Hide clutter”. As its name easily suggests, this should allow users to hide, if they wish, the elements that they no longer wish to see in their main feed.

Towards an overhaul of the “Souvenirs” interface?

Among the contents affected by this functionality, we find the different photos saved on your smartphone or tablet, such as screenshots, GIFs or even memes, always according to the information gleaned by Android Police. Thus, once the option is activated, users will no longer see this content, although they will obviously always remain accessible from the folders in which they were previously saved.

In summary, the integration of this function into the Google Photos application on Android will undoubtedly considerably simplify navigation, while focusing more on the photos and videos that really matter to you.

In addition to this hiding feature, Google is also working on an interface overhaul of the “Memories” section in the Google Photos app, as reported by user Assemble Debug on X.com. The goal is presumably to make this section more engaging and intuitive, allowing users to relive their favorite moments in a more immersive and interactive way than in the past.
