The Google Pixel 6 was the subject of a presentation during the Google I/O. Here is a complete presentation on the characteristics.
In addition to Pixel 7, Google Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds Pro and a Pixel Tablet teaser, Google I/O was an opportunity for Google to unveil its Pixel 6a. Let’s get straight to the heart of the matter with the expected features of the phone. First, we note that the 6.1-inch screen (Full HD +) is smaller than that of the Pixel 6, which is entitled to a diagonal of 6.4 inches. In terms of design, the overall philosophy remains the same.
A smaller battery for the Pixel 6a
Another small concession is made at the level of the refresh rate, limited here to 60 Hz against 90 Hz for the big brother. Same song on the battery side, which peaks at a capacity of 4306 Mah, against 4614 mAh on the Pixel 6. We could therefore expect a slightly lower autonomy, especially since the processor would be the same.
Another difference in weight compared to other “Pixel a”: there is no longer a jack to plug in headphones or wired headphones.
Google is once again opting for its in-house Google Tensor processor, which has proven to be good without blowing our minds either. It will be supported by the Titan M2 security chip. Nothing has been announced about charging power.

In the photo section, the Mountain View firm advances the following configuration:
- 12.2 megapixel main sensor;
- 12-megapixel ultra wide-angle;
- 8 megapixel front sensor.
The Pixel 6a is therefore deprived of the 50-megapixel sensor seen on the Pixel 6. Regarding the first two sensors, Google called on Sony and its IMX363 and IMX386, respectively.
In terms of video capabilities, here’s what to expect: 4K at 30 and 60 FPS for the rear camera, 1080p at 30 FPS for the front camera.
Google Pixel 6a: price and availability in France
You also have to count on stereo speakers, Gorilla Glass 3 (as on the Pixel 5a), five years of security updates, three years of major updates, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and 5G. All in a 6 + 128 GB storage configuration.
The Pixel 6a will be available from July 21, 2022 for $449. Good news: the Pixel 6a will also be released in France under its dedicated page on the French Google Store. It is indicated that it will be released at the price of 459 euros, accompanied by a button “Coming soon”, for a release planned for this summer.
Three colors are on the menu: Sage, Pebble and Charcoal.
