The Google Pixel 7 Pro might just be the best camera phone of its generation.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro has passed through the hands of the experts at DXOMARKand the smartphone did not disappoint them.

The best camera phone of the moment?

The smartphone obtains a score of 147 in photography and takes first place in the ranking of the best photophones compiled by DXOMARK, on par with the Honor Magic4 Ultimate. The Pixel 7 Pro therefore outperforms market benchmarks like the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro.

Compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 6 Pro, the Pixel 7 Pro offers an improved experience, especially on the overall zoom quality as well as in video, thanks to software optimizations “, says the report of DXOMARK.

The Pixel 7 Pro received top marks in two aspects. The first is the quality level of the device when capturing photos or videos during moments with family, friends, or in the company of pets. DXOMARK highlighted ” good preservation of contrasts, natural rendering of skin tones, suitable exposure and excellent management of motion blur “. These qualities allow the device to offer very realistic renderings and good portraits in several light conditions.

High-performance autofocus, progressive zoom

The second point on which the Pixel 7 Pro excels is color rendering. The tests conclude that the smartphone gives “ impressive results in rendering skin tones, accurate white balance and beautiful contrasts in all conditions
bright, even in difficult high-contrast scenes
“.

DXOMARK also appreciated the autofocus, described as precise and fast, both in photos and in video, which greatly contributes to the capture of quality images. The zoom improvements are also highlighted, notably enabled by a telephoto lens with a longer focal length.

DXOMARK only notes two slight defects in imaging for this Pixel 7 Pro:

  • Underexposure in low light videos
  • Slight loss of detail and image noise when zooming at close range

The Pixel 7 Pro is considered better than the iPhone 14 Pro in the Friends & Family / Portraits in photo use case, as well as in zoom. Even if it is one of the best on the market, the Pixel 7 Pro remains below the iPhone 14 Pro in video, nuance DXOMARK.
