Google likes to create applications, which sometimes do essentially the same things, then merge them with another, rename them, delete them… And sometimes, it lets services live that almost everyone has forgotten existed, before remember it and warn of its imminent disappearance. After October 5, there will remain 3 platforms to purchase content on your connected TV: Youtube, Android-TV And GoogleTV. Purchases you made on the old app will be accessible in these. However, it is not known what will become of them if you live in a country where they do not have the same rights and licensesi.e. outside the United States, continental Europe and the United Kingdom.

It appears that Google wants to refocus its resources on the products it is actively developing at the moment.
