Google releases a patch to fix a charging problem on the Pixel 6

Google brings a patch to Android, which allows it to correct malfunctions in the battery of the Pixel 6.

Owners of Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro know that they have a good smartphone in their hands, but the operation of which may encounter disappointments on a daily basis. In particular, these two phones tend to heat up quickly and have charging and battery difficulties. The problem is not new, but Google is struggling to come up with a lasting solution.

A patch for Android to solve battery annoyances

These battery concerns have reappeared in recent weeks with the release of the final version of Android 13. Internet users have reported wireless charging not giving full satisfaction. Just under three weeks later, a patch is rolling out to Google’s new mobile operating system.

Announced on September 6, 2022 by the American company, the patch is provided for five other models in the Pixel range (4a, 4a XL, 4a 5G, 5 and 5a 5G). This doesn’t mean that all of these smartphones were affected: the September patch is actually more extensive, bringing adjustments to Bluetooth, interface and biometric recognition.

Regarding the load and the battery, Google indicates that its update focuses on the one hand on the behavior of certain activities taking place in the background of Android, and which can abnormally solicit the battery. The other angle of attack therefore concerns the activation of the wireless charging mode, which did not trigger under certain conditions.

To these inconveniences, felt differently according to uses and mobile users, is added the absence of fast charging, which means that the complete recharging of the latest Pixels is slow. However, this could have balanced this impression of autonomy which crumbles at times. Perhaps the Pixel 7, expected this fall, will bring a welcome evolution.
