There the fight against illegal content sharing sites is gaining momentum, and hardly a week goes by without the announcement of the closure of a big name in pirate streaming or file sharing. Indeed, for the past few months, rights holders have been stepping up their efforts and multiplying requests for de-indexing from Google, because it is mainly the Mountain View firm that is responsible for processing delisting requests sent by rights holders. right.

According to Google, more thana billion links to pirate sites were deindexed in nine months. This is a new record, and the pace is accelerating. The figures published by Google, however, suggest that one company in particular is very virulent towards hackers: MingGeek Premium. The latter is known for its sites offering X-rated content such as Pornhub, of which French Internet users are heavy consumers. According to the report, the Canadian company is responsible for more than a quarter of de-indexation requests.

Pornhub asks Google to de-index almost a million links every day

MG Premium was thus able to send up to two million requests per day to Google. The latter are not always justified and sometimes affect innocent services. Torrent Freak, a site that covers legal and illegal streaming news, has been victim of “wild” de-indexing for publishing the name of some sites sharing pirated content.

The war against piracy is therefore far from won, and it sometimes brews a little too broadly. Torrent Freak also points out that “not all withdrawal requests are sent by the people or companies listed there. Over the past few years, many imposters have sent notifications on behalf of legitimate claimants. These are frequently sent by owners of pirate sites trying to eliminate the competition “.
