If you have a Google Pixel, here’s a new feature that could be very useful when you’re behind the wheel.

While the Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold have recently been formalized, the Mountain View company seems to want to make its smartphones true all-purpose devices.

The Personal Security app will get a new feature

On Android, Google Pixel users can download an application called Personal Security from the manufacturer’s official store. As the official Play Store page states, this one helps you “ to prepare and to react in an emergency “. The application can for example allow you to quickly reach your loved ones if you find yourself in a situation of danger. To do this, you can first establish a list of contacts to contact in case of emergency.

Personal Safety also offers some driving-related options, such as accident detection. Good news: in order to avoid any problem in the event of a possible problem while driving, Google has discreetly (and unfortunately?) integrated a new option into its application…

Your Pixel as an on-board camera? It will soon be possible

In a recent test version of the Personal Safety app, Google added the ability to use your Pixel phone as a dash cam. In one of the sections, as discovered by the site 9to5Google, users will soon be able to find the Dashcam functionality there. This will allow you to record up to 24 hours of video. These will then be compressed (about 30 MB per minute), so as to preserve as much storage space as possible on your device before being deleted three days later, unless you want to save them.

Note that you can configure the feature so that it starts recording each time you connect to a Bluetooth device, such as your car’s audio station. Your Pixel will be able to sync with your driving habits so you don’t have to start or turn off the dashboard manually. If the onboard camera option seems ready to be deployed on Google devices, we do not yet know when the American giant will decide to make it available to all Pixel owners. Hoping now that the phone will not overheat too much…

Google Pixel 7 Pro

  • Its value for money
  • A successful and premium design
  • A superb bright screen

2021 will have been a good Pixel vintage, 2022 really is just as much. Without revolutionizing its formula, Google manages to refine it in order to offer a complete smartphone without major defects. More premium in its design, certainly, the Pixel 7 Pro is one of those phones that amaze, and clash, as soon as you put it on a table. With its superb bright screen and its new Sensor G2 chip, it is ready to entertain you long, wide and across. In terms of photography, he keeps his crown on Android. Zoom, wide-angle sensor, portrait, “Night” mode, ergonomics… It surpasses all the competition. Only Apple continues to stand up to it. Only complaint, too bad it is not as good in video as in photo. However, we trust Google to keep improving its copy.

Finally, its only Achilles’ heel could come from its charging, which is too slow and its autonomy, which is satisfactory, but not exceptional, especially when used in strong light.

Anyway, with its new flagship, Google responds perfectly to our initial questioning. Yes, it is possible to offer a complete and ultra-premium smartphone under the 1,000 euro mark. The Pixel 7 Pro is proof of that.
