Google would hit hard with a more accessible price than the competition

According to information from journalist Roland Quandt, Google’s Pixel Tablet would be launched in Europe between 600 and 650 euros, against more than 750 euros for the Samsung model.

In the Android tablet market, Samsung reigns supreme with a range of slates that have been proven for years. The Galaxy Tab S8 launched in February 2022 – and still not renewed – should however face a major competitor in the coming weeks with the new tablet from Google, the Google Pixel Tablet.

Already unveiled in part at the Google I/O conference in the spring, then at the Made by Google event in the fall, the Pixel Tablet should finally be launched on May 10, at the opening of the 2023 edition of Google I/O. As a reminder, the tablet is expected with mixed use. This combines both the format of a classic touch pad, but offers a wireless charging base with a speaker to transform it into a connected screen, like the Google Nest Hub.

Above all, the Google tablet should offer a particularly aggressive positioning for a high-end model. In a tweet published by German journalist Roland Quandt, we learn that the tablet should be available in two storage versions – 128 or 256 GB – and two colors – porcelain or mist – at a price of 600 to 650 euros.

A more affordable price than Samsung tablets

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 was launched at a price of 769 euros in the 128 GB version and at 819 euros for the 256 GB version. In addition, the prices of the range could reach 1699 euros at launch for the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra in 5G 256 GB version. This price positioning would also place the Google tablet not far from the iPad, sold for 589 euros in 64 GB.

It is not known, however, whether Google’s Pixel Tablet will be offered in a 5G version or only in a Wi-Fi version. Another unknown at the moment is the availability of the charging dock. We do not know yet if it will be supplied as standard with the tablet or if it will only be offered as an additional accessory, to be purchased separately, even if some leaks suggest that it will be offered as standard.

As a reminder, the Google Pixel Tab should be presented on May 10. It would have an LCD screen, 8 GB of RAM, a UWB chip, a Tensor G2 processor and a dedicated privacy button. It is only at the launch of the tablet that we will officially know more about its selling price.
