Google’s AI will respond to you even faster than before on Android

Good news for users of the Gemini application, Google’s new AI, since the American giant has just updated it to allow it to respond to you “in real time”.

Google’s Gemini chatbot assistant didn’t exactly make waves when it launched earlier this year. The company regularly works to improve its new AI, and a new update could well deliver a welcome speed boost for Android users.

According to reports from PiunikaWeb and Android analytics expert AssembleDebug, an upcoming version of the Gemini app will include a “Real-time Responses” option. The two were able to manually activate the toggle, revealing a description that reads: “ Responses will be displayed in real time while they are in progress “.

Google improves the speed of its AI

This feature should allow Gemini’s text responses to appear on screen as they are generated, rather than requiring users to wait for the full response to finish before it appears . It mimics the real-time experience already available on the web version of the chatbot.

Although a relatively minor change, implementing real-time responses on mobile could make a significant difference in perceived performance. Users won’t have to twiddle their thumbs while waiting for responses from Gemini, saving them precious seconds on each query. This could turn out especially handy if you only need to skim the first few passages of a longer answer.

The addition also comes as Google works to close the feature gap between Gemini and its more robust Google Assistant. Last month, reports indicated that Gemini might soon add much-demanded support for music services such as Spotify.

It now remains to be seen when Google will update its application with this new feature aimed at making Gemini faster. For now, users will likely still turn to Google Assistant, or even ChatGPT, since OpenAI’s AI can now be launched directly from quick settings on many smartphones.
