Google’s latest Nest Cam & Doorbell open up to Amazon Alexa commands

Nest devices obviously work very well with each other, but that’s not all. Google is also thinking of owners of Amazon Echo and Fire devices and offers an Alexa skill, for example to control a Nest thermostat by voice using its competitor’s screens, speakers and tablets. Nest cameras are obviously not forgotten either, but the 2021 range was not supported until very recently.

This is now done for the Nest Cam (battery), but also the Nest Cam (wired), the Nest Cam with projector, and the Nest Doorbell (battery). Since its last update, the Google Nest skill for Alexa allows more precise access to live video feeds from the latest Nest Cams from Echo Shows, Fire tablets and the Fire TV box. All you have to do is invoke Alexa and ask her: “displays the stream of [nom de la caméra]”.

In the event of motion detection, Amazon screens, tablets and speakers can also notify the user. All Echo and Fire devices, including the TV box, can also announce visitors who activate the Nest Doorbell (battery) and allow them to be answered, like an intercom.

Recall that Amazon offers similar features for its Ring and Blink cameras. The firm did not, however, go so far as to support Google’s Nest speakers and screens.
