The Electronics Hub site, specializing in DIY and a big supporter of the right to repair, analyzed 228 models of smartphones dismantled by the famous site iFixit.
Despite their a priori unimpressive technical sheets, the Pixels have acquired the reputation of being smartphones successful in the field of photography in particular, and rather fluid, in the context of their daily use. The latest, the Pixel 7, are no exception. That said, a study conducted by the Electronics Hub site tells us that if you have a Google smartphone and it breaks down, you will have the greatest difficulty in repairing it.

Electronics Hub has determined what are the easiest devices to repair by “calculating the percentage of repair guides for each phone deemed “easy” to perform on iFixit”, while estimating the time needed to carry out the most common repairs, when the tutorials gave this information. After analysis, experts have determined that the easiest smartphone to repair is the Motorola G7, whilein last place we find the Pixel 7 from Google.

When it only takes 25 minutes to repair Motorola/Lenovo’s entry-level smartphone, it takes a little more than 60 minutes to operate the firm’s smartphone of Mountain View. The site stresses, however, that even if it is difficult to intervene on this model, the operation is far from impossible: Google has partnered with iFixit to sell the necessary spare parts and has published guides in French to facilitate technical interventions on its devices.

Surprisingly enough, reporters determined that iPhones are “the most numerous models in this ranking of the easiest phones to repair oneself”. They also found that Asus smartphones are, on average, the easiest to repair, while Sony’s are the most complicated.
