GoPro Hero10 Black Bones: an action-cam for FPV drones… with a little tinkering

GoPro launches its lightest action-cam, dedicated to FPV (First Person View) drones: the Hero10 Black Bones. With only 54 g, it does better than the DJI Action 2 and its… 56 g. It also displays 100 g less than the Hero10 Black, while offering the same functions. 5.3 K video at 60 fps or even 4 k at 120 fps and HyperSmooth 4.0 stabilization… The Bones forgets nothing, apart from the battery and the control screen.

GoPro quality in FPV

Indeed, in order to lighten it and dissipate heat, GoPro has completely redesigned this new camera to be fixed on FPV drones. To power it, you will have to go through a GH1.25-3P male connector and solder the cable directly to the drone’s batteries. For the sake of clarification, GoPro explains that the Hero10 Black Bones does not come with soldering tools.

To control the camera, you will have to go through the Quick application or the drone remote control, for lack of a monitor. Note that it is possible to fix it a little as desired thanks to the removable fixing rod. Also, the Hero10 Black Bones is neither waterproof nor weatherproof, so you won’t have to fly in rainy weather.

Price and availability

The GoPro Hero10 Black Bones is sold for $399 if you have a GoPro subscription, or $499 without a subscription. Finally, the product is currently marketed only in the United States. Nothing says if it will one day be sold in France. However, the French site of the manufacturer broadcasts a product sheet with a price of 529.99 €.

The action-cam also comes with a license for the new GoPro Player + ReelSteady software just announced by GoPro.
