In recent days, a growing number of Windows 11 users have seen a watermark appear on their desktop.

This one is more specifically aimed at people using the operating system on a configuration that is not normally supported by Windows 11.

Windows 11 watermark invades devices that don’t meet minimum system requirements

It’s no secret that the hardware requirements to install Windows 11 on your computer are particularly high (TPM 2.0, eighth generation Intel processors or newer, etc.). If, over the months, the OS has gained in flexibility, and Microsoft has done everything to allow it to invade as many configurations as possible, many customers are still unable to switch to Windows 11.

Back in June, Microsoft made Windows 11 available on unsupported PCs…by accident. However, the American firm does allow unsupported configurations to be able to install Windows 11, provided that you manually modify the registry (you can consult the steps to follow here). But for the past few days, customers in this situation have seen a small (but no less annoying) watermark appear in the bottom right of their desktop.

Steps to Remove Watermark

As we learn from our colleagues in Windows Latestthe following mention has recently invaded a number of customers running Windows 11 Professional or Enterprise: “ Requirements not met. Go to Settings to learn more. “. Fortunately, Microsoft offers a way to make it disappear from your desktop. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open the search window (either through the Start button or the Search icon).
  • In the search bar, type “group policy”, then click on “edit group policy”.
  • Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System.
  • In the “Hide messages when Windows system requirements are not met” Group Policy, click Enabled.

If you follow these instructions to the letter, you should, logically, see the message disappear indicating that the minimum system requirements are not met. Once the last setting is enabled, the watermark will then not be visible on your desktop or from your computer settings.
