Warner Bros. Games having decided to cancel the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights, so this one should be quite greedy for the resources of our consoles. We’ll still have to wait a few days to see how optimized the title is on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but one thing is certain: Warner Bros. Games Montreal chose to limit the frame rate to prioritize performance.
Where some titles manage to reach 4K at 60 fps and many allow you to take advantage of this frame rate at the expense of a slightly lower variable resolution, it was decided to freeze Gotham Knights at 30 fps. Executive producer Fleur Marty confirmed the bad news on the Discord from the community, explaining that this was chosen in order to ensure the general graphical stability of the experience, especially online. Therefore, there will be no fashion Performance favoring the frame rate no other graphic options on next gen.
I know many of you are wondering about the availability of a Performance mode for Gotham Knights on consoles. Because of the kinds of features we have in our game, like providing a fully self-contained co-op experience in our highly detailed open world, it’s not as simple as lowering the resolution and getting a higher framerate. For this reason, our game has no Performance/Quality toggle option and will run at 30 fps on consoles.
If you like high frame rates, you will therefore have to turn to the PC version, provided you have a sufficiently powerful machine. The release date of Gotham Knights is still set for October 21, 2022, and you can pre-order your copy from €51.99 on Amazon.co.uk.
